Yoga Classes:

Yoga classes will be held by Laura, taking a holistic therapeutic approach to combine yin-yang yoga, pranayama, mantra and guided meditation. Through each themed class, we will take our practice to new levels to explore chakra balancing techniques, yoga mandala flow and to appreciate and embrace our inner Goddess.

Emma will be teaching some select classes focused on playful arm balances and inversions, accessible for all levels.

Hula Hoop Classes:

Hula Hoop classes will be designed for those new to hula hoop, but options will be provided for those more advanced hoopers. Hula-hoop dance consists of learning different tricks and ways to move with the hula-hoop, which can then be incorporated into dance. We will learn to use the hoop on different planes including body hooping (think shoulder and knee hooping), vertical plane, horizontal plane, isolations, and tosses. Learning new tricks and putting them together requires a lot of focus, which is extremely meditative. It’s also good exercise, challenges your hand eye coordination and muscle memory, and is a creative form of self-expression.

Laura:
Laura started her yoga journey at the age of 15, with her first and most inspirational yoga teacher, her grandmother, who taught her to be humble and playful in her practice. Originally from the UK, Laura is a long-term traveller and true-adventurer, committed to life-long learning and to sharing her passion and knowledge with others.

Laura learnt the art of teaching yoga whilst training in Southern India and completed the Yoga Alliance Certified 200 hour RYT training, on a one-to-one basis. Laura continued her yoga journey to complete the 300 hour RYT training in Yin-Yang Yoga and Yoga Therapeutics, with Jivani Yoga in Thailand. Learning under the guidance of many inspirational teachers, Laura has developed a teaching style that enables yogi’s of all levels to feel secure, confident and inspired in their own practice by combining elements of yoga therapeutics with vinyasa flow, mantra and meditation to provide a supportive, relaxed and playful environment both on and off the mat.

In addition to training to become a RYT 500-hour, Laura has completed the Pre-Natal and Children’s Yoga Teacher Trainings. Teaching the art of yoga to young children and teenagers is a great passion of Laura’s as prior to yoga teaching, Laura was an international primary school teacher. Laura is dedicated to supporting children and young people to become well-balanced, creative, open-minded individuals by sharing the philosophy and teachings of yoga.
Laura is currently hosting yoga retreats in Southern Thailand, working with the Thai Child Development Foundation,to raise funds for the charity which supports education, healthcare and welfare for underprivileged children within Thailand.

Emma:

Emma started hooping in 2010 when one of her good friends fire hooped at her wedding, and then gave her a hula hoop for a wedding present. She couldn’t have guessed then what a life altering wedding present it was! She enjoyed the challenge the hoop presented, and the gratification she felt after successfully learning something new. She loved the way the hoop taught her how to move her body and expand her limits to discover freedom in movement.

Nearly as soon as she started hooping, she started teaching both adults and children in Thailand from 2010-2012. In 2012, Emma got her 200 hour yoga teacher certification in Rishikesh, India. This month-long intensive experience helped her to further develop her skills in activity-based teaching and hugely improved her personal practice. In 2015, Emma completed her advanced teacher certification with Ana Forrest, renowned yogic healer.

Emma moved to Hong Kong in June of 2013, and in January of 2015 started Turning Circles Ltd. offering a wide range of hula hoop and yoga activities. She teaches hoop to all ages, from first graders to adults, offering various class formats. In order to reach the community and bring awareness to hula hooping in Hong Kong, she created a Meetup group. In addition, Emma organizes hula-hoop birthday parties, performs at various events, and makes custom hand-made hula-hoops. She also runs a charity yoga class with proceeds going to Room to Read, and is finishing her advanced yoga training with world renowned Ana Forrest in December 2015.
